Barry Ostrager has been a long-time participant in all facets of the thoroughbred breeding and racing industry as a farm owner, stallion manager, breeder, and owner. As owner of Questroyal Stud LLC, Barry has managed the careers of many of the most prominent stallions to stand in the state, including Belong To Me, Hansel, and Gold Token, among many others. Barry has embraced a leadership role in the industry, in addition to his own pursuits, and is currently serving as the President of the New York Thoroughbred Breeders, Inc.
Sara Dunham, a second-generation horsewoman, was raised in the industry. Growing up in New Orleans and alongside her father, trainer B.G. Dunham, as he travelled the summer racing circuit she knew early on that horses would be her life’s work. Upon graduation from Louisiana Tech University with a degree in Animal Science, she returned to the track as an assistant to her father. A few short years later she was brought on by Hall of Fame Trainer Carl Nafzger as an assistant. In the ten years she spent in the Nafzger organization she saddled many winners, including Solvig, Bound By Honor, Vicar and Banshee Breeze. A resident of Saratoga Springs for the last ten years, Sara is also deeply involved with numerous thoroughbred charities and rescue operation, including the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation.
Jay Ryan started his career in the horse racing industry at the age of 17 under Mid-Atlantic Hall of Fame trainer Edmond D Gaudet, working as a hot walker, groom, and eventually becoming an Assistant Trainer. Jay’s interest grew in gaining experience in other facets of the industry including the transporting of thoroughbreds domestically as well as internationally, but he found his niche when he became an Assistant Starter for the Maryland Jockey Club and later for the New York Racing Association. His passion for thoroughbreds led him to get involved in the New York breeding industry. Working for Sequel Stallions NY under the direction of Becky Thomas and Farm Manager Wally Burleson Jay gained the knowledge and experience to successfully take the next step with Questroyal North.
Bush has been in the thoroughbred industry for more than 30 years and has been Stallion Manager at a number of major farms. Bush was a licensed trainer, served as a broodmare manager and has done sale preparation for weanlings and yearlings. He is the man in the stallion barn with a sunny disposition and a lifetime of experience. Bush has been at Questroyal North since the farm commenced its operations.
Originally from Dutchess County, Kelly brings with her 15+ years of experience in the equine industry. A 2007 Bachelor's Degree graduate from Morrisville State College, Kelly doubled majored in Equine Reproduction and Business Administration. Her love of horses began at the young age of 6, when her grandfather brought her to her first riding lesson. During her time in the equine industry, Kelly has done everything from managing a hunter/jumper barn, foaling out upwards of 200 mares, prepping yearlings for sale and handling horses at some of the biggest sales in the country. She brings this experience and exceptional organizational skills to the office of Questroyal North.
